The Xai table was inspired by Dalí’s painting, Interpretation Project for a StableLibrary (1942) and designed by Oscar Tusquets. The painting featured a young woman nestled among sheep, one of which serves as a nightstand with a drawer in its side. Tusquets and BD reproduced the sheep image into a limited-edition series of taxidermy lambs. Twenty white lambs (and one black lamb) were sourced by Parisian firm Deyrolle, who had worked with Dalí when he was alive. Instead of hooves, bronze is moulded into rococo-style feet. The circular wooden top and drawer opening from the side play between practicality and perception. The table has a beautiful simplicity that balances the body it holds.
